Two Cinquains

Lover's Cinquain

I wake,
one arm stretching
over empty bed, one
spine curling around one dreamt form.
Missing.

Twenty-Two

rainbow
degrees; Tarot
majors; syllables in
cinquain; city blocks between you
and me.

Morgan Grayce Willow started writing cinquains as a training exercise then fell in love with the form. A lousy photographer, she makes snapshots with cinquains instead of schlepping a camera along on her travels. Her chapbook of cinquains Arpeggio of Appetite is dedicated to Adelaide Crapsey, the inventor of the form. Morgan lives in Minneapolis where she teaches at The Loft and Minneapolis College .
