Jared Carter

Jared Carter is a Midwesterner. He was born and raised in the central Indiana town of Elwood, and has lived in Indiana for most of his life. He studied at Yale and at Goddard. His fourth and most recent book of poetry, Cross This Bridge at a Walk, is reviewed in this issue, and is available from Amazon or direct from Wind Publications.

Mr. Carter's first book Work, for the Night Is Coming received the Walt Whitman Award, and his second After the Rain was awarded the Poets' Prize for 1995. His poems have appeared in Poetry, the New Yorker, the Iowa Review and many other print journals and online magazines. His fellowships include grants from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
